The Research Team of The NCI Clinical Research Foundation is made up of qualified personnel with vast experiences ranging from functional brain mapping and neuromodulation, to clinical research and data analysis.
Gerald Tramontano, Ph.D., Executive Director
Dr. Gerald Tramontano conducts a variety of sponsored and investigator-initiated pharmacological, nutraceutical and neurodiagnostic research. As a Principal Investigator, Dr. Tramontano has completed approximately 70 clinical research studies. His clinical research experience in drug development ranges from bioavailabilty / bioequivalent studies, as well as, first in humans Phase I studies through Phase IV clinical trials. The majority of his clinical research has been investigating functional brain mapping, neuromodulation, behavioral, biological and pharmacological treatments for patients with a variety of cognitive and neuropsychiatric conditions, in particular – neurodegenerative diseases such as Alzheimer’s disease. He has authored several published neuroscience-related and pharmacology articles in medical and forensic journals. Dr. Tramontano specializes in the practice of clinical neuropsychology. He is also a Clinical Assistant Professor of Psychiatry at Rutgers Medical School and faculty member of the Cerebral Dysfunction Clinic at the medical school. He is an Assistant Professor in Psychology at St. John’s University teaching clinical neuropsychology in the Ph.D. Clinical Psychology Program.
Jimmy Lee, M.D., Ph.D., Director of Neuropsychiatric Clinical Research
Jimmy Lee, M.D. Ph.D., (Tien-Wen Lee, M.D. Ph.D.) is the Director of Neuropsychiatric Clinical Research at the NCI Clinical Research Foundation. Dr. Lee was also a senior investigator at the Center for Cognition and Brain Disorders in Hangzhou, China. He was also an attending psychiatrist at Lee’s General Hospital in Taiwan.
Syed Owais Wasti, M.D, VP Regulatory Affairs & Clinical Research
Syed Owais Wasti, M.D. is the VP for Regulatory Affairs & Clinical Research at NCI. Dr. Wasti was a Psychiatry Clinical Research Assistant at RIVUS Wellness & Research Institute responsible for conducting CNS-related research in Alzheimer’s Disease, Insomnia, Major Depression, Adolescent ADHD, Opioid Dependence, Schizophrenia and Bipolar Disorder.
Carina Barlongo, Assistant Clinical Research Manager
Carina Barlongo is the Assistant Clinical Research Manager of the Clinical Research Unit of The NeuroCognitive & Behavioral Institute. Carina is a licensed Medical Laboratory Scientist and has more than 20 years of experience in clinical research management. She earned her CRA Certification from The Institute of Clinical Research, Faculty of Pharmaceutical Medicine Royal College of Physicians, United Kingdom.
Sergio Almeida, M.A., Clinical Research Coordinator
Sergio Almeida, M.A. is a Functional Brain Mapping and Clinical Services clinician at The NeuroCognitive & Behavioral Institute (formerly The NeuroCognitive Institute). Sergio is responsible for analyzing functional brain mapping data and preparing datasets for interpretation. He also conducts clinical research in functional brain mapping and neuromodulation at the NCI Clinical Research Foundation.
